Cape and Islands Emergency Medical Services System, CIEMSS, serves as the liaison organization between the EMS providers in the Cape Cod area and the area hospital Medical Directors and the Massachusetts Department of Health - Office of Emergency Medical Services.  CIEMSS provides coordinated quality assurance and improvement activities, assistance with regulatory compliance and a variety of EMS related education and training programs.  Established in 1974, CIEMSS has continuously been committed to the development of emergency medical care within the region and continues to this day its commitment to help provide the best pre-hospital medical care.
